Many students, in their rush to leave campus after final exams, forget that they have left checked-out books and other personal items behind in the library. So, one of our annual end-of-semester rituals is “clean-up day” where library staff members collect books that need to be returned and discover all sorts of things that need to be reunited with their student owners. The pictures that accompany this post document the process: Jean Coates gives the staff instructions for what should be collected and what should be left alone; staff members line up with book trucks, ready to scour the library; Susan Kerr puts away games that were used as stress relievers for students; and, items are placed on tables for sorting.
Once this big house-keeping task is completed, we feel like we’re ready for the long break that all of us look forward to each year. This year, the Library will be open on Monday, December 23 from 8:00AM-3:00PM and then we will be closed until January 2. We wish you a very happy holiday season and a healthy and happy 2014!
